What is the commission?
When a student books a lesson through MusicStudio, we deduct a commission from the lesson fee before paying you. It covers running the platform — payment processing, the booking system, finding students, support and development.
The rates
- Introductory lesson: 50%. Each new student's first, discounted 25-minute lesson with you is split 50/50. For a €45 teacher the intro lesson is €11.25: you receive €5.62.
- Every lesson after that: 15%, unless we have agreed a different rate with you. For a €45 lesson the commission is €6.75 and you receive €38.25.
Both rates include any VAT — nothing further is charged to you. The rate that applies to you is shown on the Pricing tab of your profile, and the rate for a lesson is fixed when it is booked.
What does not change your earnings
- Rounded prices. If students see your price rounded down to .99, MusicStudio pays the difference from its commission.
- Other currencies. You set your price, and are paid, in your own currency (choose it on the Pricing tab — it should be the currency of your bank account). A student paying in a different currency pays a cross-currency charge on top, which MusicStudio keeps. Your earnings are fixed in your currency at booking and are the same either way.
Where to see it
The Earnings tab lists every lesson, its fee and what you receive, and you can download statements showing the commission deducted.
